MEASURE YOUR HEART RATE TO DETERMINE THE INTENSITY OF YOUR WORKOUTS

1. DETERMINE YOUR RESTING HEART RATE (RHR)

When is the optimal time to measure your RHR?

The best time to measure your RHR accurately is right when you wake up in the morning before getting out of bed.

To measure your heart rate, place your first two fingers on your radial pulse, located on your wrist. If you are unable to find your radial pulse, use your carotid pulse. Your carotid pulse is located to either side of your Adam’s apple on the front portion of the neck. Count the number of beats for 60 seconds.
